A run down of my week

I’m a person who loves to stay busy, so I try and involve myself in things I know I will enjoy doing. I do sometimes overbook myself and feel like my entire life is a rush, but like my mom always says, if I’m not busy enough, I get bored. Which is very true. So since this week has been a rather busy one, in fact it’s been a busy few weeks, I thought I would share a bit of what I’ve been up to and what I am looking forward to without sharing too much about what’s to come.

Let’s start with where my day starts everyday. I get up to go to my regular Monday to Friday, 7:45am-05:15pm job. I work for a well known group in the Port Elizabeth region as their social media and website administrator. I also run most of the marketing and advertising for the group. When I say “it’s been a busy week” that applies to my work life, my blog life and my personal life. Work has been really busy and we all have those days where we don’t feel like getting up to go to work but I feel very privileged to say that I actually like my job and enjoy what I do.

If you follow my Instagram stories, you would have noticed me posting some stories in the studio. The ballet studio. For those of you who don’t know, I am a ballet dancer, have been for most of my life and I’m so happy that I’ve finally gone back. I should be training at least 3 times a week but sometimes adulting and events get in the way. Like this week for example, I could only attend one session because I was busy most other evenings this week, which you will hear about shortly. I am training to take part in the PE dance festival again this year for the first time in 6 years and I could not be more excited to get on stage again. I have 1 classical solo, 1 character solo and one contemporary group piece (see what I meant by overbooking myself?). I’m proud to say that this week Tuesday, was the first time I got back in my pointe shoes (the hard shoes that we wear to stand on our tippy toes. Yes, there are special shoes, we don’t just have really hard toes) and ran through my classical solo full out, which I only just learned like a week ago.

Wednesday was an exciting evening. I attended the screening of Creative Freedom. A short film by Colours of You SA, directed by Gerard Addison, showcasing creatives in our beautiful city. I am so grateful that I got to be a part of such an awesome project. The film follows all sorts of creatives from typographers to fashion designers to sculptors and of course dance, which is how I got involved. We should be so proud of all the talent in our city. If you haven’t seen the film yet, it is below this post. Please watch it and share as much as you can and let us know what you think of it.

Thursday was another eventful day. I worked a half day then raced off to get all my things together for the event I attended in the evening. However, before I could go to the event, I had another prior commitment, my cousins matric farewell. She looked absolutely gorgeous and I agreed to do her photography for this auspicious occasion. You can imagine the rush. Rushing from work to do my nails hair and make up, rushing to Uitenhage to do the matric farewell photos, rushing to get dressed for the evening event and then rushing all the way from Uitenhage to the Boardwalk Convention Centre for the Business Woman’s Association Regional awards.

Oh what a night! I was invited by The Herald to attend the gala event with them. Naturally, we had to show up dressed as if we were going to the oscars, which I was excited about because how often do we get to do that? I wore my long sleeve maroon dress, with a plunging neck line and a thigh high slit which was custom made for me a few years ago. I paired it with black and silver chandelier earrings and an envelope clutch with simple black heels. It was lovely to network and to see the great work and achievements of woman in our region. Congratulations to all the nominees and winners and a Big thank you to Shelly and Lucahe (My Spreadsheet Brain, #ECMeetUp organiser) from The Herald for the Invitation.

On to Friday. Whoop it’s the weekend! On Friday I have a meeting planned with some creatives for another exciting project coming up. I can’t give away any details yet but I can say I am super excited. Hopefully I will have some time to chill and watch some series this evening if something else doesn’t come up during the day.

My weekend plans include, wanting to get some content done on Saturday, for the blog and my YouTube and hopefully to catch up on editing some other content. On Sunday, I am needed for the project mentioned above and Food Truck Funday takes place this Sunday so I’ll see if we can squeeze that in too.

So that’s been my week and what’s still to come this week. Don’t forget to watch the short film below.

Hope you enjoyed this post, it was kind of a long one. Let me know if you’d like me to do more updates like this, either on the blog or on my Insta stories or even on Instagrams new IGTV app if you’d prefer.

Kaaay. Bye for now
